vasanta pañċamī

vasanta pañċamī marks the transition from winter to spring. It is an auspicious day dedicated to sarasvatī dēvī, who bestows enlightenment and dispels ignorance, lethargy, and sluggishness. sarasvatī dēvī is the deity governing knowledge, language, music, and all arts. She symbolizes creative energy and power in all its forms. Therefore, it is auspicious to start new ventures and educational programs on this day.

This festival is observed in our temple on Sunday, February 2. Priests will perform akṣarābhyāsam for children who are ready to learn and have to wait until fall / autumn to start formal education in a school.

akṣarābhyāsam will be conducted at 7 p.m. Please bring some fruits, a small bunch of flowers, one coconut, slate and chalk for this event.
