When: 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 10
What: abhiṣekam and pūjā for Lord narasimha
narasimha jayantī is observed on the śuddha trayodaśī of vaiśākha māsa. It is the date when Lord viṣṇu appears as a half-man half-lion (Narasimha) to protect prahlāda from being killed by his demonic father hiraṇyakaśipu, who was an asura king. This avatār of Lord viṣṇu represents the balance of power and wisdom, making Lord Narasimha a symbol of strength and courage combined with wisdom.
The festival symbolizes the triumph of good over evil and wisdom over ignorance. It reinforces the importance of devotion and faith. Devotees pray to Lord narasimha seeking protection from evil and to foster their own spiritual growth.
This a good time for reflection, purification, and to reaffirm one’s commitment to righteousness and spiritual goals.
Priests will perform a special abhiṣekam and pūjā for Lord narasimha. Please see detailed description of this service for items you can bring for this occassion.
