What: Discourse on miracles by kāṅċi mahāperiyavā
kalliḍaikuriċi S. Kannan is a familiar face in our temple. You have most probably seen him as the quiet gentleman who gives tīrtha to everyone on most days. During his current visit to the Bay Area, Kannan-sir would like to share some of his research work on kāṅċi mahāperiyavā.
kāṅċi kāmakōṭi pīṭham is one of the four pīṭham-s estiablished by ādi śankarāċārya in 482 BCE. It has the distinction of an unbroken line of 70 āċāryās until today.
śrī ċandraśēkharēndra sarasvatī VIII was the 68th āċāryā of this pīṭham. He retained that post from an early age of 13 until his death at the age of 100 in 1994. He was fondly known as mahāperiyavā. He is known to have performed several miracles for his followers during his time as the āċāryā of kāṅċi.
śrī S. Kannan has done extensive research on the life of kāṅċi mahāperiyavā (jagadguru śrī ċandraśēkharēndra sarasvatī). Kannan-sir will be sharing some of his findings from his research with us on Saturday, May 3, between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
