What: abhiṣēkam and pradoṣa kāla pūjā for śiva
śivā pradōṣa pūjā is performed during sunset on the 13th day (trayodaśī) of each lunar fortnight (pakṣa). The word “pradōṣam” means the removal (pra) of impurities (dōṣam). The ritual is believed to wash away negative habits and karmic impurities.
The most auspicious time for this pūjā is the three-hour period around sunset, known as pradōṣa kālam. This period is divided into two sessions – 90 minutes before set and 90 minutes after sunset.
