When trayodaśī falls on a Saturday (śanivāra), śani trayodaśī is observed.  This combination is considered highly auspicious for seeking blessings from śanīśvara particularly for karmic purification and prosperity. śani trayodaśī is a good time to seek blessings to clear karmic debts and bring harmony and abundance into ones life.

Devotees may bring a small amount of sesame oil (less than 2 fl oz), a teaspoon of black sesame, some flowers and fruits to participate in the tailābhiṣekam, homam and pūjā for śanīśvara.

Observance of certain rituals on śani trayodaśī can bring good fortune, reduce mental distress, and remove obstacles that hinder personal well-being and success.
